To Dick, and to all the volunteers who helped Berkshire Brewing Company become what it is today, we say, "CHEERS! Things are looking up!" |
The Dick Schatz Tap Room
In the early days of Berkshire Brewing, when bottling was done by hand and running the capper could have been considered hazardous duty, we were blessed with a small army of volunteers who would arrive each week to help us through this labor intensive task. Among this group were a trio of retired gentlemen from Greenfield, MA (Fran Lemay, Butch Denofrio and Dick Schatz), whose dedication, humor and spirit secured their well deserved place in BBC lore.
In 2006, Dick Schatz passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Before his passing, Dick asked that his collection of beer memorabilia be donated to Berkshire Brewing. These unique items from breweries the world over adorn what is now, and forever, the Dick Schatz Tap Room at Berkshire Brewing Company.
